Gunungkidul (Reuters) - Department of Culture and Tourism of South Mountain District, Yogyakarta Special Region, will propose Gunungkidul into the world to conserve the earth's garden rock karst areas in the district.

The proposal will be submitted to the Global Geopark Network of UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural), said the Head of Tourism Development, Culture and Tourism of South Mountain, in Wonosari Birowo Adji on Saturday.

"If not treated immediately, karst areas in the District of South Mountain to the potential beauty of the geology can be mined out come," he said.

  He said with a garden earth or the world of international geopark kelestraian maintained environment and improve people's welfare.

According to him, one of the requirements to become a world gardens is the management that puts the world of local wisdom.

"A number of geoheritage at South Mountain is managed by the community through tourism awareness group that managed to be one of the advantages of the South Mountain toward the earth as a garden world," he said.

He said the international geopark status or garden earth geoheritage world assisting the development of the region and international tourism. (*)
